North Preschool november Newsletter

WEATHER

As we prepare for the season of Thanksgiving, we’re going to embrace the spirit of gratitude in the Toddler Room by learning about the people who serve our community on a day to day basis. We’ll read books that teach us their identifying characteristics, match drivers to their work trucks, and build our own little town. On our walks around the city, we’ll use our knowledge base to recognize and acknowledge the people helping near us. As we talk about the ways in which these people support us and the ecosystem we’re a part of, we’ll introduce the concept of a gratitude circle, in which the toddlers will learn how to give thanks and honor the bounty in their lives.

Let the children be free; encourage them; let them run outside when it’s raining; let them remove their shoes when they find a puddle of water; and when the grass of the meadows is damp with dew, let them run on it and trample it with their bare feet.

FALL HARVEST

For the month of November our theme will be fall harvest. We will learn about animals, food, and talk a little bit about the changing weather.

Our sensory bin will be filled with hard and soft animals, leaves, brown and red yarn, and utensils to practice the fine motor skills of grasping. We will have animals set out as a work for the infants to become familiar with and eventually practice naming. We will also have a food puzzle with pegs available for infants to practice their pincer grasp.

We will continue reading fall themed books and will add a song about apples and bananas to our song repertoire. We are so excited for this month!

WEEKLY FOCUS

Each week the infants teachers plan what the weekly focus will be. They do not need to guide infants on what to do with the focus work; the children can discover that on their own. A teacher's role is to observe and provide a demonstration when a child is developmentally ready to understand the purpose of a work.

November 12th – 15th
